Election Results
Placer County Elections will begin posting semi-official results for all contests in the current election around 8:10 p.m. – just after the closing of the polls. This first report includes vote-by-mail ballots returned and counted so far. We will follow up with a second report around 9:30 p.m. as results from vote centers are received at the Election Office. New reports will be posted at approximately 30-minute intervals until results are in from all vote centers.
The last report of vote totals on Election Night is only a semi-official report. It is not issued until all ballots cast or dropped off at vote centers have been received at the Elections Office in Rocklin. This could happen anytime between midnight and 2:00 a.m.
The Statement of Vote contains the final, official election results for Placer County and is issued at the close of the Official Canvass within 30 days of the election. The Statement of Vote includes thousands of additional votes not processed on Election Night, mostly from vote-by-mail ballots.

Official Canvass Period
See main page: What Happens After the Election?
Placer County’s election results are finalized upon the completion of the Official Canvass. The canvass period is an internal audit required by state law to ensure the accuracy of election results and must be completed within 30 days of the election. The canvass must begin no later than the first Thursday after Election Day and continue daily—excluding Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays—until it is completed. Canvass procedures are covered in Division 15 of California Elections Code.
The canvass concludes with the certification and issuance of official election results, called the Statement of Vote. Once the results are certified, you may view or download the Statement of Vote documents on the Current Elections page.
All our election processes are transparent and open to the public. We encourage anyone interested to stop by our office or any vote center to see the election in action. Observers must comply with all relevant laws and regulations. Electioneering is prohibited within 100 feet of a voting location.
